The love between a mother and son is pushed beyond its limits when eight-year-old Bobby Burke refuses to relinguish the certain knowledge his MIA father will one day return from Veitam.


Having moved into an apartment downstairs from his mother's new love interest, Bobby fights to keeps his father's memory alive through his 'SafeKeeper', a talisman he's worn on his wrist since before his father's disappearance.


The life of Bobby's father is also threatened by a local bully, the self-proclaimed tolltaker of the playground who learns of the bracelet's significance, and hounds Bobby with the threat to remove it when he refuses to pay the playground toll.


Bobby retaliates, but another more sinister figure awaits Bobby.  Born of local legend, the real TollTaker, a mysterious apparition from the storm drain behind his apartment taunts Bobby.  This TollTaker feeds off Bobby's torment, visits him in his dreams, and demands the ultimate price of passage.
